Welcome to the Autumnal Equinox...or as we less-sophisticated folks call it...the official first day of fall.
So what actually happens on this date. In theory...we get exactly 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness...though it varies a bit based on exactly where you live. The days have been progressively becoming shorter in the Northern Hemisphere and the nights longer for the past three months...and will continue to do so until we hit the Winter Solstice on December 21st.
It’s always been my absolute favorite time of year for a number of reasons. I was born at the beginning of it on September 21st. The days begin to cool off and the nights become perfect for jackets and firepits. (well...maybe not quite yet here in Texas) Lord Football returns to entertain us until sometime in February. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and all the rest of the special days that fall into the final three months of the year.
So cheers to fall and everything that comes with it.
Except all that pumpkin spice junk. You can keep that for yourself.
